India Interior Retailing (IIR) unravelled ‘The Journey of Interior Retailing in Ahmedabad’ on May 4, 2019. We had enriching discussions on retail, architecture and design by prominent architects, designers and decision-makers in retail- Yatin Pandya, Utpal Sharma, Hemal Shah, Jaxay Shah, Pradyumna Vyas, Hiren Patel, Bhadri Sonpal, Ranna Parikh, Snehal Joshi, Deepali Meni, Kunal, Arpan Shah, Vikas Jha, and Niraj Shah. Also, important interior retailers of Ahmedabad shared their retail stories, helping everyone gain valuable insights on the interior retail market.
The father and son duo from two very prominent showrooms of Ahmedabad- Bhavin Shah & Prakash Shah (EDGE Studio & Builders Home) and Pawan Arora & Raghav Arora(Arodrape) shared their thoughts about where the retail industry is moving –the trends - the culture of showroom designing –their lessons –the successes & failures. The practical lessons they shared from actual market experience and 40 years of legacy, and thus were invaluable!
Next, prominent decision-makers and retailers in Wood & Decorative Panel products in Ahmedabad, such as Alay Upendra Nagori of The Ahmedabad Timber Merchant’s Association; Interior Designer Niraj Shah of Ido Design and Solutions, and Ashish Khandelwal of Neha Ply & Laminates, led us to understand the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ of the retail culture of Ahmedabad, the unending spree of showroom designing, their story of building up a retail brand, some good & not so good market practices and suggestions for upcoming showrooms. The event was a great learning platform for all, emphasising the need for a forum like IIR, which can effectively bring Indian Retailers, Architects and Designers together and foster fruitful relationships.
Niraj Shah is an interior designer from Ahmedabad who is well known in the circle of designers. He spoke about the importance of having a customer centric showroom and how branding impacts the image. Showroom owners and retailers loved the overall discussions that initiated due to SRPR The Talk of Town and looking forward to more such knowledge based initiatives.
